Rub Calculator
Pick a rub, say how much meat you have, and it hands you the recipe in tablespoons and teaspoons. Make just enough for tonight or fill a jar for the season.

Why it exists
Rub recipes are written for some amount of meat that is never the amount of meat you have. Scaling them in your head at the counter is how you end up with a pork butt that tastes like a salt lick. This does the scaling, and it handles the salt trap that catches nearly everybody.
What it does
Six profiles, or build your own
Texas SPG, Kansas City sweet, Memphis dry rib, Carolina pork, Backyard Bird and coffee beef. Or start from scratch and keep it.
The salt problem, solved
A tablespoon of Diamond Crystal, a tablespoon of Morton, and a tablespoon of table salt are three different amounts of salt. Tell it what is in your cupboard and it converts.
Kitchen measures that add up
Tablespoons and teaspoons, rounded to a quarter spoon, with the rounding balanced so the total still matches the batch you asked for. Grams too, if you weigh.
How to put it on
How much per pound, what to use as a binder, and how long before the fire, because a rub applied at the wrong time is a rub wasted.
Three steps, start to finish
Pick a profile and say how many pounds of meat.
Choose your salt brand and whether you want just enough or a jar.
Measure it out. Copy or print the list first if the kitchen is where your hands get messy.
Who it is for
Anyone who buys rub in a shaker and suspects they are paying five dollars for eighty cents of salt and paprika. Which they are.
What it will not do
These are starting profiles, not secrets. The point is a base you can move: more heat, less sugar, whatever your table likes. Save the custom version once it is right.
Questions
Why does the salt change when I change brands?
Crystal size. Diamond Crystal is flaky and a spoon holds less salt than the same spoon of Morton or table salt. Swap brands without converting and you can nearly double the salt.
Can I make a big jar for the season?
Yes. Switch to jar mode, pick a size, and it scales the whole profile and tells you what it yields.
Does sugar burn at high heat?
It can above about 300°F, and the tool warns you when a sweet profile meets a hot cook. For hot and fast, lean on the profiles without sugar.

Works alongside
These three come up most often on the same cook.
Brine & Marinade
Pick the method, the meat and the weight. It gives you the salt and water, how long it should sit, and a clock that tells you when to pull it so the meat is ready when the pit is.
See what it does ›Sauce Batch Scaler
Pick a sauce and tell it how many people, how much you want, or how many times the base batch. It scales every ingredient to spoons and cups you can measure.
See what it does ›Cook Timeline Planner
Tell it what you are cooking and when you want to eat. It plans backward and hands you every clock time that matters, with the rest built in so you finish early instead of late.
