Cost & Profit
Know what a cook really costs before you light the fire, then price a plate or a catering job with the margin spelled out.
Arrives April 2027, free for bundle holders
Why it exists
Cooking for money goes wrong at the quote, not at the pit. People price against the raw meat and forget that half of it leaves as fat and moisture, that fuel is not free, and that eleven hours of their Saturday is worth something. This shows the real number.
What it does
Everything that costs
Meat, rub, sauce, wrap, fuel, sides and your own time, each as its own line so you can see where the money goes.
Cost per cooked pound
The only honest unit. Cost per raw pound flatters the numbers and is how people end up cooking at a loss.
A price, not just a cost
Set the margin you want and it gives you the plate price or the job total.
Catering quote mode
Headcount in, full quote out, with the margin visible before you send it.
Three steps, start to finish
Put in the meat and what you paid per pound.
Add fuel, sides, and an hourly rate for your time.
Set the margin and read the plate price or the quote.
Who it is for
Anyone who has been asked to "cook for my thing, I will pay you". The first paid job is where most people lose money, and it is usually by more than they realise.
What it will not do
It costs one cook. It is not accounting software and it does not track a business over a year. Licensing, insurance and food-handling rules are local and are your homework before you take money.
Questions
Should I charge for my time?
Yes. An overnight brisket is twelve to sixteen hours of your life. Put a rate on it, even a low one, or you will find out later that you paid for the privilege of cooking.
How do I price against a restaurant?
You are not selling the same thing and you should not match their number. Price from your cost and your margin, which is what this works out.
Does it handle deposits?
Not as a workflow. It gives you the total and the margin. How you take the money is between you and your customer.

Works alongside
These three come up most often on the same cook.
Crowd Calculator
Tell it who is coming and what you are serving. It works out the portions, the raw weight to buy for every meat, and hands you a shopping list you can take to the store.

A 14 lb brisket does not feed 14 people at a pound each. It feeds about 21 at a third. This tells you what a raw cut turns into, and what to buy for the plates you need.

Put in your turn-in times and it works every category backward to one clock, then hands you the Friday prep list and the gear list.
